The Ottawa Hospital volunteers honoured with the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers

April 26, OTTAWA, ON – As part of National Volunteer Week, dedicated volunteers were recognized for their invaluable support of The Ottawa Hospital.

The Right Honorable Beverley McLachlin presided over a ceremony this afternoon which highlighted the work of these 20 individuals who are either volunteers at The Ottawa Hospital, or volunteer their time and efforts for The Ottawa Hospital Foundation in the community:

Their dedication to The Ottawa Hospital was recognized as well by Dr. Jack Kitts, President and CEO of The Ottawa Hospital and Tim Kluke, President and CEO of The Ottawa Hospital Foundation.

Tim Kluke acknowledged the importance of the role of volunteers at The Ottawa Hospital Foundation. “Whether it’s sitting on our board, being a member of a committee or being one of the hundreds of volunteers who help at events supporting our hospital, our volunteers make the difference. Their dedication and their passion for helping to make The Ottawa Hospital the best health care provider in eastern Ontario isn’t lost on us.”

During a separate ceremony on Tuesday, in honour of the Riverside Auxiliary Board’s 50th Anniversary, the entire Board was honoured with the Sovereign's Medal for Volunteers. This special presentation recognized 18 board members and longtime volunteers, some who have been active since its inception. The luncheon took place at the Riverside Campus, and was officiated by Dr. Jack Kitts and members of The Ottawa Hospital’s senior management.

Congratulations to all those who were recognized.
