Students and staff at Turnbull School are coming together once again this year to Run for a Reason. It will be a special fundraising effort as the school not only celebrates its 25th year but they will be raising money to support one of their own.
Turnbull School has set an ambition goal of $25,000 and they are directing their funds to cancer research at The Ottawa Hospital. The team will rally behind a member of the care staff whose cancer has returned. Joe Fatoric received a standing ovation from the school at the Run for a Reason kickoff which brought him to tears and he thanked everyone for their support which he says is helping to save lives.
Steve Fini, Head of community engagement and teacher at Turnbull, says the annual Run for a Reason campaign is important for the school. “We want the kids to get involved to adopt some of the healthy habits that come with Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend. We want them to feel a part of something bigger and special.”
The school looks forward to their own special race day on May 12 in advance of Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend and the fundraising efforts which include the annual Mother’s Day plant sale and bake sale too.
