Fun and Exciting Events in Support of The Ottawa Hospital Foundation

Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Amazing Race

On September 28, Thermo Fisher Scientific held their third Amazing Race event in support of cancer research. This was a fun day in which employees, family, and friends spent the day competing in challenges while raising funds for cancer care at our Hospital.

“Now, more than ever, this campaign resonates with the employees of Thermo Fisher Scientific,” says Heather McLean, Vice-President, Annual Giving Programs at The Ottawa Hospital Foundation, to Amazing Race participants. “We are grateful for the important role you [Thermo Fisher Scientific employees] have played in ensuring that our Hospital has the best cancer care and treatment available for our families, friends and colleagues when it is needed most.”

Since 2003, Thermo Fisher Scientific employees have contributed to a number of important Hospital initiatives through employee gifts, corporate matching, and gifts-in-kind, raising nearly $200,000 in support.

Thanks to everyone who participated in the Thermo Fisher Scientific Amazing Race!

Versature BBQ Block Party

On September 5, Versature, the newest member of the Canotek Park Challenge, held a BBQ Block Party in support of cancer care at The Ottawa Hospital. Guests of the BBQ learned about the Canotek Park Challenge and its goal to equip a chemotherapy bay with the latest in life-saving technology for patients undergoing chemotherapy treatment at The Ottawa Hospital Cancer Centre.

Versature and the other members of the Challenge have already raised enough to allow The Ottawa Hospital to purchase an ultrasound machine for a chemotherapy bay. Together, they are transforming cancer care in our community!

Guests at the BBQ enjoyed socializing, and learning about the Canotek Park Challenge.
