At any given time, more than half of all patients at The Ottawa Hospital are being treated for cancer or cancer-related illnesses. Research is breaking new ground and offering better treatment options for patients. Technology is also making a difference every day in the lives of those battling cancer.
MDS Aero and companies throughout the city are helping to enhance the current technology used at The Ottawa Hospital by supporting an important software upgrade for the CyberKnife – the world’s first and only robotic radiosurgery system. Upgrading the software for CyberKnife will speed up treatment times by approximately 30%. Faster treatment times mean more cancer patients can benefit every day from this pain-free, non-invasive radiation treatment.
We would like to highlight the outstanding commitment of MDS Aero employees. They donated more than $57,000 in support of this technology. Thank you for making such a significant impact on patients undergoing radiation treatment at The Ottawa Hospital.
Stay tuned for more information on seven companies who are also raising funds for the CyberKnife software upgrade as part of the White Coat Challenge. Thanks to the commitment of these companies we can ensure our patients benefit from the very latest in technological improvements and continue to offer world-class care to those who need it.
