In 2001, long-time advocate for women’s causes, Shirley Greenberg was inspired to make a major private donation towards the construction of the women’s health centre. Mrs. Greenberg viewed the opportunity to contribute to the establishment and ongoing development of the Centre as a vital step in improving women’s health. The Shirley E. Greenberg Women’s Health Centre, which opened in January 2005, was named in her honour.
Since opening, this state-of-the-art clinical care facility has operated as a vital component of the health-care system in Ottawa, providing hundreds of thousands of women with leading-edge diagnostic, treatment, and information technology services at The Ottawa Hospital. The Centre strives to ensure that women receive timely consultations and follow-ups by working closely with community partners.
