A successful end to the 2011/2012 White Coat Challenge
Seven Ottawa companies recently celebrated the wrap-up of a successful fundraising challenge which raised more than $121,000 to equip a treatment bay at the Irving Greenberg Family Cancer Centre.
This bay will play an important role in the care provided to the 24,000 patients who benefit from The Ottawa Hospital Cancer Program every year.
“Unfortunately, we all know someone who has been touched by cancer,” said Dave Allum, White Coat Challenge Chair. “Many of us have also used the services of The Ottawa Hospital at some time or another. Therefore, it’s important to us to give back to the community that we live in.”
This challenge saw tremendous success the moment it kicked off last fall with a flash mob at the St. Laurent Centre.
"We are proud of the way these businesses and their staff answered the call to help The Ottawa Hospital Cancer Centre continue to provide excellent care to patients currently receiving cancer treatment,” said Tim Kluke, President and CEO of The Ottawa Hospital Foundation.
