Did you know that more than 6,500 babies are delivered each year at The Ottawa Hospital campuses? When a baby is born at TOH, their tiny heads are covered with a knitted hat to replicate the cozy environment they just left and to prevent heat loss when they enter the world.
These very special hats come in different colours and patterns and are extra special because they are knitted by members of our community and donated to the hospital.
During the pandemic, a shortage of hats prompted an appeal from The Ottawa Hospital. The community of knitters rose to the occasion, producing so many hats that The Ottawa Hospital had to temporarily pause the program due to the overwhelming response!
