CAIVAN and The Ottawa Hospital Establish the CAIVAN Centre for Precision Medicine to Revolutionize Patient Care

OTTAWA, ON – October 21, 2026: Leading community builder CAIVAN is partnering with The Ottawa Hospital to establish the CAIVAN Centre for Precision Medicine — helping accelerate a new era of health for our city and well beyond.

The CAIVAN Centre for Precision Medicine will create one of Canada’s most advanced healthcare innovation platforms — harnessing The Ottawa Hospital’s unique and robust data environment, responsible use of artificial intelligence, and the latest global research to transform how diseases are diagnosed, treated, and prevented. The Centre will bring together the data, technology, science, and clinical expertise required to understand patients more deeply, predict outcomes more accurately, and deliver more precise care.

The founding investment of $10 million is the catalyst for a new model of research and care delivery – one that shortens the time between discovery and the bedside. Patients living with cancer, heart conditions, neurological disorders and other conditions across Canada and around the world will benefit from this approach.

“One of the goals of the CAIVAN Centre for Precision Medicine will be to create a continuously evolving, AI-enabled clinical decision intelligence, where the full spectrum of clinical data informs new discoveries that can be iteratively applied to directly improve care for patients,” says Dr. Rebecca Auer, Executive Vice-President of Research and Innovation at The Ottawa Hospital. “AI-enabled care is reshaping the future of healthcare and with the CAIVAN Centre for Precision Medicine, we will be leading that transformation.”

“The CAIVAN Centre for Precision Medicine will be a transformation hub that improves quality, increases efficiency, and optimizes methods of care for patients and families.”

— Frank Cairo, CAIVAN Co-Founder and CEO

The partnership will support the hospital’s fundamental shift in how care is delivered, researched, and taught to the next generation — from medicine for the masses to precision treatment for the individual.

“Healthcare needs an urgent and fundamental rethink, not incremental repair,” says Frank Cairo, CAIVAN Co-Founder and CEO. “By applying systems thinking and harnessing the latest advances in science and technology, the CAIVAN Centre for Precision Medicine will be a transformation hub that improves quality, increases efficiency, and optimizes methods of care for patients and families.”

Together, two organizations committed to embracing innovation and investing for long-term impact are helping reshape healthcare across the region — not simply to meet the needs of today, but to build healthier communities and a more prosperous Canada for generations to come.

“We are truly proud of the catalytic founding investment we are making. This is just the start of our support for the Centre’s work and a testament to the benefit that can come from bringing like minded and future thinking groups together.” says CAIVAN Co-Founder and CEO Troy van Haastrecht. “Health, prosperity, and happiness are central to quality of life in Canada. The foundation of this pursuit is housing and healthcare. Modernizing both, is a priority that we all must rally together to address.”
