Atul Aggarwal is currently Vice-Chair of Marcan Pharmaceuticals Inc., a generic pharmaceutical manufacturer & importer based in Ottawa, Canada. He has been actively working in the healthcare industry for almost 35 years. Atul co-founded A & A Pharmachem Inc. in 1992 and continues as its Chairman. A & A Pharmachem Inc. is a leading Canadian supplier of healthcare ingredients used to manufacture both pharmaceutical & nutraceutical products.
In 2005, Atul founded Marcan Pharmaceuticals Inc. which manufactures generic drugs and is supplying medicines to pharmacies and hospitals across Canada. Atul sold Marcan to a Emcure Pharmaceutical Ltd., based in Pune, India in 2015. Emcure is a leading global multinational generic drug manufacturer. After the sale of the company, he continued as it’s CEO until March 2025.
Atul received a Bachelor of Mathematics Degree from the University of Waterloo in 1987. He is also a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) and has a Master’s in Business Administration.
He has experience on non-profit boards including the Young President’s Organization (Ottawa Chapter) as Chair. He served on the Board of Queensway-Carleton Hospital for 7 years, that last 2 years as Chair.
Atul along with his wife, run a Private Charitable Foundation that helps girls access education in the Thar Desert area of Rajasthan. The Foundation also supports local charities including TOHF and the QCHF. Atul was born in India and has lived in Ottawa for almost 60 years. He is married with three daughters.
