The Ottawa Hospital Perfect Payday Staff Lottery is bigger than ever, providing you with a chance to make an even greater impact in the lives of our patients and to win up to $22,500*.
*Note: selling out of tickets for the Perfect Payday Staff Lottery does not guarantee that a player will win the maximum jackpot of $22,500. Due to the natural ebb and flow of our hospital team — staff leaving, retiring, or jetting off on a well-deserved vacation — the number of eligible lottery players varies each week. These fluctuations in participation impact how much can be won.

Please note: if you are already a staff lottery participant and are paying through payroll deduction, you will be automatically renewed for the 2026-2027 staff lottery. Your ticket numbers will be emailed to you prior to the first draw on April 6, 2026* (in-lieu of April 3, 2026).

Frequently Asked Questions
Each ticket costs $3 per pay, totaling $78 for the year.
There are 15,000 tickets available for each draw. There is no limit on how many tickets you can purchase, provided tickets are available. Currently, we have a waitlist to purchase tickets.
- Any full-time, part-time, or casual staff, physicians, retired employees, and volunteers at any campus of The Ottawa Hospital, The Ottawa Hospital Research Institute, and the University of Ottawa Heart Institute can play.
- Campuses include, but are not limited to, Civic, General, Riverside, and IGFCC at QCH.
- For the purposes of this lottery, TOH staff includes EORLA staff whose paymaster is The Ottawa Hospital, as well as Aramark, OHRIA, and TOHEPA staff working at a TOH campus.
Yes. Instead of payroll deductions, you may pay a lump sum via credit card for the full lottery year (or the remaining draws in the year).
- Each lottery year runs from the first payday in April to the last payday in March.
- A winner is drawn each payday.
Winners are contacted by phone using the number provided.
Winners are also announced on the TOHF website, in the What’s Happening email (as space permits), and on MyHospital (as space permits).
The lottery operates as a 50/50 draw.
The prize amount depends on the number of active tickets in each draw.
Each winning ticket receives $1.50 per active ticket in that draw.
No. Under CRA guidelines, lottery tickets are not eligible for tax receipts because you are entering to win a cash prize.
Yes. All tickets remain eligible for every draw. If your ticket wins, it is automatically entered into subsequent draws.
No. All winnings are tax-free.
No. Once registered, you will receive a confirmation email with your ticket number(s). These numbers remain the same for every draw within that lottery year.
- Tickets can be purchased online through our website.
- As we currently have a waitlist, new participants will be added to the end of the list.
Your employee ID can be found on your pay stub, in the box next to your name. It is generally different from your badge number.
- Payroll deduction participants are automatically renewed at their current number of tickets.
- Credit card participants must renew each year. We do not automatically renew credit card payments.
No. There is a processing period for registration. Timing may also depend on whether there is a waitlist.
You will receive a confirmation email with your ticket number(s) once successfully registered and eligible for the next available draw.
To cancel:
- Email stafflottery@toh.ca with your name, employee ID (if applicable), and the date you wish to cancel.
- All requests must be received more than nine days prior to the draw date.
To decrease tickets:
- Email stafflottery@toh.ca with your name, employee ID (if applicable), and the requested change.
- Requests must be received more than nine days prior to the draw date.
To increase tickets:
- Email stafflottery@toh.ca with your name, employee ID (if applicable), and the requested increase.
- Increases will be added to the waitlist and processed when tickets become available.
- Yes. Retirees are eligible to participate.
- Instead of payroll deductions, payment must be made in a lump sum via credit card for the full lottery year (or the remaining draws once retired).
- To participate in a new lottery year, retirees must renew annually. We do not automatically renew or charge credit cards.

- Cover missed draws with a lump-sum credit card payment, or

Please note: We cannot hold tickets during leave. If alternative payment arrangements are not made, tickets will be cancelled.
- No. The Hospital does not share updated information with the Foundation.
