At a transformative time for the Ottawa Hospital and healthcare across the region, the Ottawa Hospital Foundation is seeking an experienced financial leader with the acumen and aptitude to help navigate the complexities of our multi-year fundraising initiative, the ‘Campaign to Create Tomorrow’ and support the organization through our next phase of growth.
As VP, Finance & Administration, you will oversee the Foundation’s financial strategy, ensure fiscal responsibility and foster donor trust through accountability, enabling sustainable growth. The Opportunity
Reporting to the President & CEO and as a key member of a highly-committed and cohesive senior Management Team, the VP, Finance & Administration will work closely with the CEO as a strategic partner, ensuring long-term financial sustainability and supporting the Foundation in meeting its philanthropic goals and the priorities of The Ottawa Hospital.
With a demonstrated passion for the Foundation’s mission, they will also play a leadership role with the Foundation’s Board of Directors and Board Committees, including the Executive, Finance & Audit and Investment committees. The ability to develop and nurture strong relationships with the leadership of The Ottawa Hospital and the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute, donors and other external stakeholders built on trust, respect, and integrity will be critical to success in this role.
In this hands-on leadership role, the VP Finance & Administration will provide direction, coaching and mentoring to a team of 13, through 4 direct reports, overseeing all corporate services functions, including Finance, HR, Risk Management, IT, and Facilities. They will also have a direct hand in fostering a culture of financial, stewardship and transparency across the organization and within the community. The role is based out of the Foundation’s offices in Ottawa.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of 10 years’ senior/executive-level leadership experience within an organization of similar scale and complexity, and proven track record in strategic planning, financial analysis, and providing actionable recommendations to CEOs, senior leadership, and boards of directors.
With a Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting, with an MBA and CPA designation (CA, CMA, CGA), they will also have extensive experience in financial systems management, particularly within complex non-profit organizations with diverse funding sources. Expertise in estate administration, investment oversight, GAAP, and non-profit accounting practices is required.
The candidate should also be technology-savvy, with a strong background in accounting systems, budgets, and asset planning. Prior experience managing corporate services functions including HR, IT, and Facilities is highly beneficial. Bilingualism will be an asset.
