As Ottawa prepares to host the IRONMAN Canada-Ottawa triathlon for the second time, this August 2, the world-renowned endurance event is already making a lasting impact. Not only through the determination of its athletes, but through a strategic investment in the future of healthcare of our city and beyond.
Through the IRONMAN Foundation, IRONMAN Canada-Ottawa has made a generous gift of $50,000 USD to The Ottawa Hospital Foundation’s Campaign to Create Tomorrow, helping to build a world-class hospital and elevate research to new heights.
The support reflects a shared commitment to resilience, human potential, and exceptional care. These values that are at the heart of both IRONMAN and The Ottawa Hospital.
“This gift represents more than a financial contribution. It is a signal of our long-term commitment to Ottawa.”

“The decision to make a gift through the IRONMAN Foundation reflects our commitment to leaving a meaningful and lasting impact on the communities that host our events,” says Ryan Lobato, Communications Manager for The IRONMAN Group. “This gift represents more than a financial contribution. It is a signal of our long-term commitment to Ottawa.”
That commitment is deeply rooted in the partnership between IRONMAN Canada-Ottawa and The Ottawa Hospital — a collaboration that is essential to delivering a safe, world-class race.
Hosting an event of this magnitude requires extensive medical planning, coordination, and expertise. On race day, The Ottawa Hospital leads on-site medical care with a dedicated satellite clinic near the finish line, supported by hundreds of highly trained volunteers and medical professionals.
“What has stood out most is the level of care and dedication we’ve witnessed firsthand.”

“Our teams have worked closely with hospital leadership, physicians, and medical staff to refine protocols, enhance preparedness, and ensure we are delivering the highest standard of athlete care,” Lobato shares. “Beyond logistics, what has stood out most is the level of care and dedication we’ve witnessed firsthand.”
That level of care ensures that athletes can push their limits with confidence. They know they are supported every step of the way by some of the most skilled professionals in the field.
As the IRONMAN Canada event continues to grow in Ottawa, so too does its connection to the community. With increasing local participation, volunteer engagement, and civic pride, the event is quickly becoming a powerful symbol of what can be achieved when a city comes together.
“Relationships with community partners, such as The Ottawa Hospital, have strengthened, and there is greater collaboration across the city to elevate the event each year.” Lobato says. “Our goal is to not only deliver an exceptional race, but to become an event that Ottawa looks forward to and takes pride in for years to come!”
This $50,000 gift is more than a moment in time — it is momentum. A reflection of what’s possible when endurance meets compassion, and when a global event invests in the strength and well-being of the community it calls home.
